STEP 6: Setting Michno System discs in one plane
In the next installation step, we show how to screw in and align Michno System discs in one plane using a laser. Learn how to set the first reference point, control the screw-in depth and create a perfectly level base for plasterboard.
After drilling all holes and drawing the grid, it is time for the most important moment – setting the Michno System discs in one perfect plane. This stage determines whether the plasterboard will sit evenly or whether “steps” and irregularities appear.
In this step, we show how to screw in the discs step by step with a laser, how to control the screw-in depth and how to achieve a perfect level across the whole wall.
Goal of this stage
• Set all discs in one laser line,
• Ensure an even offset of the structure from the wall,
• Create an ideal base for installing profiles and plasterboards.
Step 1: Set the laser in the working position

Start by setting the laser again to the plane marked out earlier. The laser beam should: • run exactly along the marks from the previous measurements, • pass through the closest point of the wall – the reference plane. This is our “zero” – the point against which all discs are adjusted. |

Step 2: Installing the first disc (reference point)

Choose the first point – preferably in the corner of the wall or where the plane was closest to the wall. - Screw the disc into the plug only to the beginning of the plate, not all the way to the nut. - Align its edge exactly with the laser line – this is your reference point. Why not screw it in deeper straight away? Because where the wall has bulges, you would run out of room for further tightening. A starting position gives adjustment allowance in both directions. Up close, you will see the laser passing perfectly along the edge of the disc – this means the base setting is correct. |

Step 3: Set the reference depth, e.g. 5 cm

Now that you have the first base disc, measure the distance to the construction plane. • the laser indicated “zero” on the wall plane, • the target depth was a 5 cm offset. Mark this point on your 10 mm socket – it will be your control marker. This is a simple and very effective solution – each following screw-in depth can be checked visually when the laser beam hits your marker. |

Step 4: Screwing in the remaining discs

Now screw in all the discs one by one: • place them in the holes according to the grid, • screw them in until the laser beam reaches your marker, meaning the same level as the first disc. |

Step 5: Checking the plane
After screwing in several discs in one line:
• check whether the laser beam passes through all the plates,
• if one is slightly out, tighten or loosen the screw until the laser “touches” all markers at the same point.
This is the simplest test showing whether the plane is perfect.
